March 29, 2008.

In last years 30 up break Bake and I squared off with Dirk and CT. I watched Bake come around my lead-out then split the two Roadhouse riders for the V. Can't really remember the 1/2/3...probably a bad sign.

McShane was GONE at the start in this year's 40 up. CT joined him, then Flower power , then JT. Jamie got in there at some point. With 6 or 7 guys the break was established. It was too funny listening to all the bitching back in the field: " we better organize!" " those guys are going away" " we'll never catch attacking each other" It's always the wanks sitting at the back doing all the yacking too??

Obviously the field kept loosing ground and with 10-15 min to go I bridged to the break with Schwarm (sp) and Canada Greg. We picked up a gacked JT, who had attempted to cover Dirk- nice! ( We have to keep checking him- eventually we'll stick him, catch him from behind and counter.)

Anyway, when the break was all back together Dirk probably had a 30 minute lead??? Ha.
Set up lead out for 2nd but CT was on his game and took it. Flower 3rd.  Even though we got kicked nice work- had three to start in the break- then four. Just got out-horse-powered.

In the 1/2/3 I barely scrapped into the break with Dirk and Rob Bush, Gordon and Tony from Bolla, and some Hand center guy.  Did alot of sitting on- I was blown and wanted to see if anybody was coming. In no time lead was nearly 2 minutes. At that point was easier just to roll through a wait for attacks.

Of course they came from the back to back Natz champ and world champ. This time we kept him at 10-15 seconds. Didn't matter, still couldn't catch him. Gordon and I had em within 10 seconds on last lap- close means NOTHING.

Then for extra insult Rob Bush jumped across on last lap for second. I limped in for 5th.
Flower rode well and finished with the field. JT was still gacked-great effort.
Fun racing even with cold 40mph winds.
